14.18 Cascade control is a form of distributed decision making.  Discuss how the decision making in some of your experiences are similar to or different from cascade control.


a.  A job you worked in last summer.

b.  Your laboratory group.
c.  The mayor of a city when deciding the
     path for a new highway through a city.











In cascade control, all information appears to flow in one direction, from the top to the lower levels. Discuss reasons why information might need to flow in the reverse direction, from the bottom to the top.

Hint: Does the top level (primary) need to know what is possible at the lower level(s)?
